Solitude was born a slave. Her light skin and colored eyes already speak volumes about the atrocities her mother, torn from her homeland in Africa, must have endured on the slave ship that brought them both to foreign soil, in Guadeloupe.
Now of age, the young woman gradually becomes aware of her condition and dedicates her life to a single purpose: fighting for the abolition of slavery and achieving freedom for all. However, she had yet to realize just how strong the invisible chains truly are—far more unyielding than those made of iron.
